Facebook Tributes

Esther posted this photo to Facebook with the following -

At the age of 92, my Dad's life is winding down. We just got news that he has pancreatic cancer. He has lived a full, active and healthy life! Until last week, he had been playing the organ in church, playing the french horn in the Provo community orchestra, working in the temple and mowing his own lawn. He was a school music teacher and directed the church choir for many years. He is not in pain at this point, he is just tired. My Mom was taken suddenly so many years ago. This time, the tender mercy of time has been given to us to be able to say good bye.
We don't know if it will be two months or six months. He said that he is ready to go, but it will be hard for those of us left behind. We love you Dad.

I appreciate this loving tribute Esther posted about our Dad's sad news. We learned he has pancreatic cancer on Thursday.

I enjoyed talking with his siblings yesterday. I could feel the love and respect they have for him. Aunt Marilyn said it best--she has always seen him as a kind and generous older brother, always looking out for and caring for others.

Although we know we are mortal, and death is a certainty, we are never quite prepared to lose loved ones. It is a blessing to have faith in the power of the atonement, and an understanding of the plan of salvation.

As my bishop said, this is special time to humbly reflect upon the good things in [my] life, and how much [my] dad had to do with those good things.

We are grateful to have time to say thank you and goodbye. We love you Dad, and will miss you.
